A Net Launcher is a beneficial device to add to your advanced kit. It will enable you to capture flight-capable compromised birds that are unable to be captured by other conventional methods. With this training we hope to give you the confidence to use them safely and effectively in the field.

Here is a summary of how these devices work and how they are useful for rescue operations.

What comes in the kit:

A complete kit as sold in our store includes:

• Net Launcher (an Australian designed and engineered model which is superior to devices previously available)
• 3 Net Heads (with 8 weight chambers each)
• 3 Weight Chamber Plugs (that enable the net heads to be used as a 4-chamber)
• 12 Net Weights (4 per corner) 
• 1 Rescue Bag and 
• 3 Nets - Small (50x50), Med (75x75), Large (180x180)*

How it Works:

A net launcher is a handheld device that uses compressed air to propel a weighted net over a target.

• The Power Source: Our net launchers use 8 gram CO2 compressed air canisters (similar to those used as bicycle tyre inflators). These are purchased separately as cannot be shipped with the kits.
• The Projectiles: The net is packed into the net head. Attached to the corners of the net are weighted "slugs". When fired, these weights pull the net open into a wide square or hexagon mid-air.
• *The Netting: The mesh is made of fine, light-weight, high-strength nylon or dyneema. The "mesh size" (the gaps in the net) is chosen based on the species to prevent the bird from slipping through or out from under the net. Detailed information on this is provided in our online training package.

Our Online Training:

It is a requirement from the engineer who designed these devices that anyone wishing to purchase them undertake the training prior to purchase. This is to ensure that everyone using them in the field has a sound understanding of how to use them safely and are well informed so that they have better chances of successful use in the field. Previously there has been no such training offered. Our aim is to share the knowledge so that those using these devices in the field can continue to use them without having restrictions implemented due to misuse.
